The team at Selene Yachts Australia were delighted welcome 3 students from Merrimac State High School to view the Selene 49 Classic Explorers at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.   Jakob, Evan, and Alberto are all interested in boat building and were asking questions of Darryl from Selene Yachts when Darryl said, “why don’t you ask the man who started the company 25 years ago and has built over 400 Selenes?”  To their surprise Howard Chen (CEO and Founder of Selene Yachts) walked into the wheelhouse where Howard had a terrific discussion with the boys about boat building and Selenes.  Howard’s advice “finish High School and college then come to the Selene Shipyard in China for an internship during your summer vacation to learn about boat building and understand what academic qualifications are necessary”.  Howard then gave them a tour of the larger Selene 66 Classic Explorer where they again saw first-hand the quality and craftmanship that Selenes are known for.  The boys asked Howard if they could invite another classmate to see the Selene and Howard said “of course, enjoy yourselves and treat the boat as if it is your own”.  Several photos were taken, with the boys taking time to relax and enjoy the yacht.  Howard’s time with the 3 students is an example of how he values and supports people in the industry, including his current employees (many who have worked for Howard since he started the company) and young people looking to build a career in the marine industry.  Howard and Terry (Director Selene Yachts Australia) both commented on the importance of young people entering the yacht industry to help deliver its very bright future
